Some of you might remember “The Transformers” movies produced after some world famous comics. You know, the one with the cool robots, good versus evil, hot chick and nerdy guy type of adventure movie. I am sure you do, just kidding, what I am trying to make you remember is the name of the chief of the Autobots, Optimus Prime.
This Eee PC Prime that Asus has launched at CeBIT is exactly like that, the leading model in the series and not only because of the name coincidence, but because of the overall performance and specs. So, whenever you think of the EeePC Prime, think of the best machine that came to help the humankind. Here is an extract from the official Asus statement at CeBIT.
“On show at CeBIT 2010 are the fourth generation of Eee PCs - a bold, new collection that sports designs and feature sets tailored for different users, namely social elites, business professionals, everyday mobile Internet users, and tech fashionistas.” How can a netbook be suited for all those categories of users, you might wonder; well, this one actually can, as it is stylish, powerful and has some
future-related technologies built in so that users can keep up with the upcoming times.
Asus has also released a new Seashell model, the Eee PC 1015, a fresh Eee PC Diary, 1016, but the Eee PC Prime 1018P is in a total different league, compared even with its siblings. I will start with the light arguments, meaning the fashion-related ones.
The 1018P
model will come in four differently colored aluminum cases that fashionistas can match to their wardrobe, oh, and another thing, this Eee PC Prime is only 18 mm thick, almost slipped my mind. It is as thick as two iPod touches, or if you prefer another comparison, take a look at your Nokia phone, because this new Eee PC is probably thinner.
It has a frameless 10.1-inch LED-backlit display and the technologies that have been added to this series start from quite a standard fingerprint reader to the more advanced USB 3.0 port. For comfort of use, the keyboard has isolated keys and it is a near full-size low profile one. Can't wait to see it up close.
