Nowadays, everybody has a wide range of wireless devices available throughout their home but connecting them all together still remains a chore since some are WiFi enabled, some use Bluetooth technology and some are DECT VoIP phones that don't seem to play nice with any of the wireless solutions available, but AudioCodes has somehow managed to bring them all together inside their MediaPack 252 home gateway.
Coming as part of the Home&Go residential mobility package, this gateway can offer its users wireless access to the Internet thanks to the built in
WiFi router and ADSL modem while also coming in with support for HD VoIP telephony, Bluetooth connectivity as well as up to three USB ports that can be used for sharing a printer or a storage drive throughout the network.
A 3G modem can also be installed if you need a back-up Internet connection, the MediaPack 252 being able to act as a UPnP AV Media Server for streaming audio and video content anywhere in the local network.
A battery is also optional, this, together with a
3G modem stuck in one of the USB ports, enabling the MediaPack 252 home gateway to offer Internet access for up to four hours if a power outage happens to come your way.
"Home&Go integrates two of our leading HD
VoIP solutions for the fixed and mobile environments," stated Nimrod Borovsky, Vice President, Marketing at AudioCodes.
"The combined solution fulfills the need of the home user who is eager to communicate seamlessly, easily and cost-effectively, regardless of location.
By enabling the flexibility of using mobile smart phones at home, along with VoIP services on-the-go, service providers can offer the residential customer the best High Definition user experience and improved price-performance."
Pricing and availability are still unknown, AudioCodes primarily targeting service provider with the MediaPack 252 home gateway.
