The Segway might be the world's best-known electric vehicle to date, but there are other moving contraptions out there that really make it look absolutely....childish and innocent, and the best example of such an incredible machine is the DTV (Dual Tracked Vehicle) Shredder, manufactured by the people over at BPF Werks.
At a first sight, the Shredder pretty much looks like the type of thing you'd get by crossing a skateboard with a small tank, and from what we've been able to see from the photos, this comparison is not that far from the truth.
So, the device has been designed in order to allow drivers to move at very high speeds across all types of terrain, and, as you'll be able to see from the short movie enclosed at the end of this article, it manages to do so in quite an impressive manner.
The Shredder is powered by a Honda 4-stroke 200cc engine with 15hp, has a weigh of around 125 pounds and a suspension with 3-inches of travel.
Its 200cc engine can produce a 16ft/lb torque, and the device can easily carry 1200 pounds of payload when unmanned and 700 pounds when manned, at a top speed of over 30 mph.
Furthermore, the little vehicle has a turning radius of 4-feet, is able to negotiate slopes of up to 40-degrees, and can be operated remotely.
Unfortunately, this very impressive moving contraption has been designed mostly for military use, so getting to purchase one of these things will be a tad difficult for the civilian personnel.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
