I have always been impressed by Bang & Olufsen. From the very first time I saw one of its products, I am truly in love with that it does. It takes the best, elegant designs, best technology and creative ideas and makes them better. Impossible is not an issue and there is no limit for the firm as far as I can see. It always seeks perfection and pushes creativity to the highest level while making every item minimalist. That's what art is to me, coming up with something that creative and beautiful that I would've never thought about.
I could have never thought it would come up with a bedroom friend, an alarm clock. Again, it defied every pre-made thought about design and elegance. Classified in its BeoLounge concept, the BeoTime is the sleekest alarm clock I have ever seen, or maybe it's just my weakness for Bang & Olufsen.
Make
waking up the highlight of the day, start it with more joy. The BeoTime can wake you up to its discreet chime or a sound of your favorite TV program, radio station or piece of music. After you get out of bed and head out the door, BeoTime tells other Bang & Olufsen equipment to shut down at a preset time. If you like to stay up late watching television or just listen to a couple of tracks while you falling asleep, BeoTime also has a sleep timer built-in so you don't have to worry about switching off your Bang & Olufsen system.
As for versatility, I must mention that BeoTime can also be used for basic operation of the bedroom television,
loudspeakers and light control and it also turns on its own backlight that goes on when sensing motion.
Ease of use is yet another characteristic for Bang & Olufsen products. You can hold it in one hand and operate it with your thumb. A built-in tilt sensor changes the orientation of display information and button function according to how the BeoTime is held.
The flute design came to Steffen Schmelling's mind while he was looking for things that inspired him a wonderful waking up experience. Mozart's The Magic Flute, a wonderful story about the light defeating darkness, a mix between dream and fantasy. That's how it came that the BeoTime is an anodized and polished aluminium tube, with a trumpet-shaped button protruding from one end when the alarm is activated. The only reminiscence of a classic alarm clock is the button clicking in and out when pressed.
For steady footing when lying on the table, BeoTime sports two rubber feet, while for wall mounting, it features an almost invisible magnetic wall bracket.
