Just beautiful!

If you are one of the people who have been waiting for a tablet to make its way out of Apple's front door you've probably realized by now that an Apple tablet is as impossible as someone getting a transplant through legal means. So if Apple can't do it (or won't do it, it is all the same to me), who can? Well obviously the next in line is Microsoft, which seems to be in the late stages of development for a tablet-like device of its own, called the Courier. And let me tell you it's been a while since I saw such a beautiful and interesting device.

As you pretty well already know by now, there is a thousand categories for the same product in the IT world and this product is definitely not any different. What according to Gizmodo Microsoft calls booklet is in fact a tablet with dual 7-inch screens (well from what I can tell at least) and multitouch as well as stylus input. While some of you might be put off a bit by the “stylus input” idea, hold your horses because you will definitely like the way they implemented it.

Exactly what I want!

See, the way Microsoft envisioned its tablet is this: give the user a notepad (you know the one made of paper on which you can scribble things using a pencil) with Internet connectivity, a camera, very friendly interface and notepad-like friendly themes and let the user choose where to go from there. The user gets a lot of applications and everything is streamlined and as intuitive as possible. Just think about it. Say you want to make a note: you just scribble something onto the screen using the 'pencil', make a rectangle around it and 'abracadabra', it turns into an instant sticky note.

And what notepad would be called a notepad without the possibility of turning pages? None, so Microsoft has of course included that as well! Just think about it, reading books by turning virtual pages, writing diary entries or using the left panel to display your friends' names and 'throwing' the names onto the corresponding address on the map displayed by the right panel. Though only concepts are being shown right now, this could very well mean the death of the netbook!

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
