Guess what time it is now! Yes, indeedy, ladies and gents, it is time to introduce you to yet another projector. This time, one that fits the pocket projector type of family, and one of a new generation of lamp-free pocket projectors. Without further ado, I bring to you the BenQ Joybee. A projector that uses Luminus Devices PhlatLight LEDs.

The PhlatLight LEDs plan on replacing current lamp technologies. They offer higher levels of brightness, and allow users to better enjoy their pocket projector as if it was a normal-sized one. And best thing of all... there are no lamps to switch! No more money spent on maintenance.

Stephane Bellosguardo, Director of Product Marketing, Projection Display Business, Luminus Devices, declared the following, “High-brightness levels and the ultra-reliable PhlatLight LEDs make the Joybee the projector of choice for business travelers and video game loyalists alike. […] In addition to being reasonably priced at under 499 USD, the Joybee offers unparalleled system reliability and super vibrant images enabled by PhlatLight LEDs."

You could project your family pictures on a wall in your office, a map on a sheet of paper while on a distant battlefield or the answers to your exam on the floor underneath you. Mobile and gaming enthusiasts are said to have a blast using the new Joybee Pocket Projector. Let us hear what Po Su, Marketing Director at BenQ America, had to say in order to clarify things a little better.

“BenQ’s JoyBee GP1 projector is our latest offering that is unrivaled in quality, price and now the light source with award-winning PhlatLight LEDs. […] BenQ’s mission is to continue developing compact projection systems that are ideal for numerous environments, such as home movies, gaming, meeting room demos and for the on-the-go business professional.”

I'd like to add one thing: the less than 499 USD pricing is not reasonable.

Price is way high for what is essentially a gadget--resolution too low to be considered alongside contemporary projectors. The manufacturers seem to be dweebing us along, dragging their heels on the resolution issue. Coulda made a better one myself by now if I'd known they were gonna take it out on us this way.
