Consumers in general and gamers in particular need fast, reliable storage products that provide quality storage, fast access and read speeds but most of all can be put through a lot of extensive and diverse use without suffering from loss of performance or catastrophic failures.

Apacer, deciding probably that what the market currently has to offer does not rise to its extremely high standards, announced the release of two new storage items: the 2.5-inch SATA SSD and CF2 SSD. Said to bring consumers unparalleled stability, speed and capacity (although I have my doubts regarding the speed and capacity part), these two new devices reflect Apacer's ten years of experience in memory and digital storage device manufacturing.

The two gadgets meet the highest standards in DPPMs (defective parts per million) and its MTBF (mean time between failures) has reached around two million hours. Frankly, I don't quite care about statistics of any kind (especially that kind) but I thought it was interesting to share. Besides being lean and mean, these machines are also green, meeting EU’s RoHS environmental requirements (meaning Captain Planet has no beef with Apacer).

The CF2

Now, for the 2.5-inch SATA SSD. Available in versions with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities, this device offers read/write speeds of up to 150/90 Mbs. Being a solid state drive means extremely fast access, less to no computer hangs due to HDD problems or screen lag. Even after you have upgraded your CPU or memory, there will be no noted lack of performance. Or so Apacer tells us.

As for the CF2 SSD, this device combines two 16G CF cards that give it a wide variety of uses, at the same time featuring superior data transfer rates and security. The RAID 0 mode allows the SSD to be used as a single large drive, while the RAID 1 allows them to be aligned as mirrored devices ensuring perfect data integrity. Price is yet to be revealed.
