Broadcom has just announced that MDEA has chosen them as the provider for the Bluetooth technology used in one of their top-notch series of 3D LED TVs, namely the Unisen Immersive Sound series. You might remember this series of Mitsubishi TV sets from back when it was first introduced by Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, one month ago. The Unisen series boasted impressive sound quality and the wireless technology that would spread it to other gadgets couldn't have been anything but one of the best.

"Premium audio quality is a hallmark of our immersive sound television products. We're giving consumers the television experience of an ultra high-end home theater system, seamlessly integrated into a sleek LED flat panel or large screen 3D TV package you can only get from Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi is pleased to work with Broadcom to extend the premium audio experience to personal media devices, with Bluetooth providing the ideal wireless connection to our Unisen Immersive Sound televisions," said Frank DeMartin, Vice President of Marketing at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America.

The Bluetooth chip that will be integrated in allmost all the TVs in the Unisen series is the Broadcom BCM2046, which of course supports the enhanced data rate (EDR) technology in order to allow various multimedia gadgets to receive/transmit good quality sound from/to Mitsubishi's Immersive Sound TVs. This chipset has been used by Broadcom on all sorts of different platforms and it will work with any gimmick that users will want to attach to these high-end TVs.

"Even though many consumers are now familiar with Bluetooth and most have the technology built into their mobile phones, the full potential has hardly been tapped. The addition of Bluetooth by Mitsubishi to select high definition television sets highlights the ever wider array of applications that Bluetooth is expanding into, showing off how consumers can gain greater value from various devices by using them together," said Craig Ochikubo, Vice President & General Manager for Broadcom's Wireless Personal Area Networking line of business.

The new models of Unisen 3D LED TV integrating the Broadcom Bluetooth chip will become available throughout the US during summer.
