Brunton launched its latest generation of
portable power supplies or battery solutions for the outdoor enthusiast and named it the Brunton Sync. It acts as a power hub for you people that sport an on-the-go lifestyle.
Being similar to the portable hydration concept, the Sync will provide you with power outlets within reach, on your pack or pocket. You only have to click the module on the pack strap and tuck the heavier power reservoir in your pack for power on demand. The Sync will charge any USB-based handheld electronic device, including GPS, cell phones, DVD players, as well as heating and cooling devices, all that for a less than half of kilogram in weight.
Keep the Sync clipped to your backpack strap or just throw it on top of your clothes and there you have it - the equivalent of over 5,000 AA batteries - at the tip of your fingers. If you set camp or just don't reach home for several days, you can even recharge the Sync through one of Brunton's
solar panels or DC car adapter. Of course, you also have the option of charging it directly from an AC outlet when you get home.
Brunton's Sync sits in a rubberized housing that will both increase durability and protect it from minor shocks in the backpack and will even auto shut-off for added safety. Also, it is IPX, CE and RoHS compliant. It is
water resistant, features a lithium polymer battery that recharges quickly with an impressive capacity of 9,000mAh that will provide an overall output of 2,000mA over 5V (5V = USB standard voltage).
Pretty impressive gizmo, but I have a slight impression that you can purchase better portable power for its estimated retail price of $150, maybe even one with a power-inverter.
