After presenting to you all sorts of complicated technologies and state-of-the-art gadgets, I find it actually nice to write about such a simple, but still amazing little invention that is created merely for our entertainment. It has been described as the smarter version of the Rubik Cube and it is, in fact, quite an amazing toy.

Bucky Balls are a set of little, but very powerful rare Earth magnets that stick together and serve for creating any shape you want. And by this, I mean there are endless possibilities of combining these round pellets, like 3D objects and all sorts of geometrical shapes, so it really puts your creativity to the test.

So, each set comes in a small jar, but contains 216 little magnet balls. You can take them anywhere and amaze your friends with your sculptural skills and even use them at the office to get rid of all that stress. This could really be insanely fun for about a month or so, until the next best thing comes along.

Unfortunately (or maybe for the better), this is more of an adult toy, because its vendors clearly warn about the serious trouble they can become if swallowed, so they strongly advice that they shouldn't be used by children under the age of 12 or, and here comes the funny part, “anyone likely to swallow what is clearly a metal object.” Well, I'm sure that there are quite a few mature persons out there who would gladly accept this as a bet.

Furthermore, if any of the balls accidentally breaks or gets damaged, carefully throw it away because it contains dangerous substances for the skin and not only. And keep in mind that some users recommend avoiding letting them loose and snapping them together, because, this way, they can break. I guess you really have to abuse them in order to damage them.

The set sells for about $25 at GetBuckyBalls, where you can also watch some demonstrative videos.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
