Products that are launched first in the US and then in Japan are pretty rare, but Buffalo's MiniStation Metro line of portable hard drives has done just that as the secure and shock-resistant portable HDD's will be available next week in Japan.
The drives'
toughness is made possible by the use of a slim rubberized and shock resistant body that surrounds the hard disk to protect your data from damage.
Available in 320GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities, the drives also enclose a flexible
USB connector that is always attached to the drive so you will have it at all times with you.
Data security hasn't been forgotten either, Buffalo's drive featuring 256-bit AES hardware encryption, for some extra peace of mind.
But hardware is only a part of the MiniStation Metro,
Buffalo introducing the Buffalo Tools Software Suite that can be downloaded for free.
Included are some nice applications such as TurboPC, a backup utility called Buffalo Backup or the SecureLock software that provides full control over the encryption process taking place on your drive.
Weighting just 240 grams, the stylish MiniStation Metro is available in three distinct colors, Blue Onyx, Pearl White and Ruby Red, and the units price starts from $146 for the 320GB model.
The 500GB and 1TB versions are available for $183 and $295, respectively. (via
