Users that are searching for a NAS device would certainly be glad to know that Buffalo has just refreshed its LinkStation product family with the new high performance V-Series line that promises to double the data transfer speed while also coming with some advanced features such as RAID support or DLNA compatibility.

Consisting of the LinkStation Pro, LinkStation Pro Duo and LinkStation Pro Quad NAS solutions, the new V-Series line can take one, two or four hard-drives, respectively, the last two solutions featuring RAID redundancy for data protection and user removable quick swap hard drives for simple drive servicing.

Speed-wise, Buffalo says these new solutions can reach network transfer speeds up to 76 MB/s thanks to a 1.6 GHz processor, the V-Series being also capable of performing scheduled backups to an external USB hard drive or any other Buffalo NAS devices connected.

But things don't stop here since Buffalo redesigned its WebAccess interface allowing users to easily stream digital content stored on any Buffalo network storage solution from a remote location via a Web browser, iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, the Buffalo LinkStation V-Series family being also DLNA certified in order to share content with other DLNA compatible media devices.

Backup wise, the new LinkStation V-Series is compatible with Apple's TimeMachine software and Apple Bonjour as well as NovaBACKUP Business Essentials that should come as a nice addition for PC users.

"Protecting and managing digital content has always been a time consuming task for home and small business users," said Ralph Spagnola, vice president of sales at Buffalo Technology.

"With the new LinkStation V-Series family, users access and share their data twice as fast that they would with a standard NAS device."

The new V-Series LinkStation NAS devices are available with various capacities ranging in size from 1TB to 8TB, the entry-level 1TB LinkStation Pro coming at $189.99 while the top of the line 8TB LinkStation Pro Quad will be available for an impressive $1,039.99.
