AWOX, a provider of media solutions for the digital home, has announced that a new tabletop Internet radio, manufactured by its OEM partner Socrimex is now available at major retailers in Europe. The Scott Rxi-400WL is powered by a connected media platform, the AWOX Internet Radio Module, which added media access, media streaming and Internet support into the aforementioned product.
Using Wi-Fi to connect wirelessly to people's home networks, the Scott Rxi-400WL radio receives broadcasts from over 5,000 Internet radio stations and can access over 10,000 podcasts, which can be recorded directly. It allows users to enjoy Internet radio anywhere inside the home, as well as stream music from their libraries on a remote PC to the outdoor patio.
Being designed as a media player to the DLNA networked interoperability guidelines, the Scott Rxi-400WL radio can also play MP3 and WMA files on removable media and record FM, Internet Radio and podcasts on removable media.
“The AWOX solution is ready to integrate into new products,” says Francois Mouchet, Socrimex Managing Director. “This means that we were able to focus on product features and design, and take advantage of an already functional media access platform without additional development. The AWOX platform supports the audio formats people want, namely MP3 and WMA, which can both be played just by plugging in a memory card or streamed over Wi-Fi. We were able to bring our new Internet radio to market much faster and at a lower cost of development thanks to the AWOX platform.”
Alain Molinie, CEO of AWOX adds, “The Scott RXi-400WL Internet radio offers consumers an innovative solution for FM radio, Internet radio and wireless music streaming and recording. We are particularly pleased to see the Scott radio on the store shelves. We enabled Socrimex to focus on innovation, while providing a risk-free way for them to bring the next generation of Internet radio and media access products to market.”
The Scott Rxi-400WL is now available in Europe, at retail and online outlets, although there's no mention of the price on the manufacturer's website.
