Although technologies such as Sony's own TransferJet would love nothing more then to steal some of Bluetooth's spotlight companies keep developing platforms that use this technology, CSR just announcing its CSR8000 chip designed to add Bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0 conncetivity to all sort of devices, from basic handsets to smartphones, consumer electronics gadgets, tablets, laptops and automotive systems.
In order to cater to such a large base of products, CSR has developed four different chips, the CSR8311 being designed for automotive applications, the CSR8510 for tablets, notebooks, netbooks and PC applications while the CSR8810 and CSR8811 are destined to be used in handsets, PNDs and PMPs.
Although each one of these chips has been optimized for a particular application, they all support classic Bluetooth, Bluetooth High Speed (v3.0) and
Bluetooth low energy (v4.0) while also being FM radio and HD voice ready.

CSR did not state what companies will use these chips in their future design, although it did mention that CSR8000 based products will be announced next year.
