While contactless charging solutions seem to be pretty futuristic, they've actually become quite affordable and commonplace, with CTA Digital being the latest to impress us with some offerings of this type, namely the non-contact charging stations for XBOX 360 and the PlayStation 3 controllers.
The PlayStation 3 Triple
Induction Charge Station charges the controllers using induction technology, freeing up console USB ports for other accessories, and comes with 3 adapters that fit onto the controllers.
Once connected, gamers can simply place their
SIXAXIS controllers on the magnetic cradles of the Charge Station, and it will automatically begin to charge their batteries, a process that can take up to six hours.
On the other hand, the XBOX 360 Triple Induction Charge Station also uses non-contact induction charging technology in a similar manner.
Since Xbox Controllers require batteries, the charger comes packed with three 900mAh rechargeable batteries, so gamers will never need to replace them again.
As in the case of their PS3-oriented counterparts, simply placing the Xbox Controllers onto the cradles will begin the charging.
The chargers are powered by AC adapters, and have red/green LED lights to indicate their battery charge.
Both of
CTA Digital's new non-contact chargers are available online for around 50 US dollars, which is not that bad a price, all things considered.
