I was missing the chance to tell you people about a good camera rumor, so I will tell you right now about the latest Canon rumor, about a presumed launch of the expected EOS 1Ds Mark IV sometime next week. The only rumored specification on this is an astounding resolution of 32MPixels, which, if true,
would make it the highest resolution digital SLR camera on the market, and Canon, once again, keeping the lead in resolution, even though I am not quite sure if this is so good.
I mean, I would rather see the company work on that ISO performance, and take sensor technology to new levels, because in the last year, I haven't seen too much upgrade, but better said, upgraded the marketing department. Luckily for them, Canon has too many specialized lenses that photographers cannot find an equivalent in other cameras systems, because otherwise, in 2009 at least, we would have all seen a bunch of professionals selling tons of equipment, with Canon written on it.
So, I can but hope that Canon will actually stop here with the resolution in full frame digital cameras, and then put the resolution on hold and try solving some actual issues within the camera system, such as luminance noise and considering the new resolutions, maybe some new breakthrough in the AA filter
that would allow better resolution, without getting into too much moire.
Along the rumors, I also saw something about two new lenses that would definitely do good to the already very comprehensive EF lenses, namely a 14-24 F2.8 ultra-wide angle and the optically stabilized version of the 24-70 F2.8 that in many people's point of view could also be improved optically, but we all know that IS kind of takes away from the optical quality. More info, hopefully, soon to come.
