Since the consumer printer market is more or less saturated, manufacturers have to turn their attention towards other type of users if they want to grow and large format devices seem to be the new battlegrounds, Canon just launching two new printers that have been built for high-speed production of full-color and monochrome output.
Dubbed the imagePROGRAF iPF825 and iPF815, these two new devices share a large part of their feature set, both being capable of printing two full-density D/A1-sized color plots in less than one minute while also being available with an optional 300-sheet capacity plain paper stacker to neatly stack collated sets for unattended printing.
Both models also come equipped with cost-tracking software, a 160GB hard disk with secure erase technology and up to 29 password-protected user inboxes in addition to a high-capacity portable output media basket, self-driven dual rotary blade cutter as well as USB 2.0 and Ethernet connectivity.
1200 dpi resolution also comes standard with these two new imagePROGRAF printers, although the iPF825 comes equipped with two media rolls supporting multiple media types, while the imagePROGRAF iPF815 includes only one roll unit.
“We are excited to offer these new imagePROGRAF models with high print speeds and extraordinary image quality that help meet the needs of technical document users,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group,
Canon U.S.A.
The new Canon imagePROGRAF iPF825
large format printer will be available in late October for a $7,495 retail price, while going for the iPF815 will drop that price down to $5,795, to offer better value for your money if you don't need that extra media roll.
