Casio's decided to bring forth at Photokina some interesting offerings for amateurs as well, one of these new models being the entry-level EXILIM EX-Z16, which combines a few mainstream options with an elegant, slim design that should prove to be quite appealing for this thing's target segment.
The
camera delivers 12MP image quality, as well as 3x optical and 4x digital zoom capabilities, and also features a 2.7-inch LCD (230K) screen that provides an increased brightness and higher contrast, as well as a wide 180 degree viewing angle.
Since we're talking about an entry-level compact camera, it should come as no surprise that it relies mostly on the Easy Mode User Interface, that only lets uses fiddle with the image size, flash and self timer, while automating the rest of the settings.
The EX-Z16 also offers an integrated YouTube Capture Mode for Easy Video Sharing that shoots video in a web-friendly 640 x 480, H.264 format for quick transfer to YouTube, through
Casio's YouTube Uploader software.
The new
EXILIM point-and-shoot camera also offers BEST SHOT technology, which automatically analyzes your scene and applies the best settings for capturing perfect images and video.
This feature applies face detection, auto focus and exposure settings to a total of 23 types of scenes, offering optimal configuration in just about any setting or situation.
“We wanted to round out our Exilim digital camera line to include simplified functionality that is beneficial to consumers, and the EX-Z16 definitely achieves this goal," said Toshi Iguchi, Senior General Manager, Digital Imaging Division, Casio America Inc.
"The EX-Z16 doesn't just take outstanding photos and videos, it captures beautiful, natural and organic shots that you'll share and cherish with friends and family."
The EX-Z16 will arrive in stores September and retail for $99.99.
