As some of you might know, a few weeks ago, Acer unveiled the 10-inch version of its famous netbook, the Aspire One. So, given the fact that it is quite a recent product, it has created quite a stir around it, but, to tell you the truth, the reasons for that are not exactly very clear. I mean, we've had a chance to get quite close and personal with this thing, and at least at first sight, there's nothing that special about this netbook compared with similar models available on the market, that is.
Sure, it's got a nicer design and a high-quality finishing, and it also has some top-notch hardware under its hood, but that's about it. No bells and whistles here, really. It's using the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N70 processor coupled with 1 GB RAM that can be upgraded to 2GB. It has a 160GB SATA Hard Drive and the Intel GMA 950 shared-memory integrated graphics adapter is used to display high-quality images on its 10.1-inch monitor.
Sizing 10.2 x 8.0 x 1.3 inches, the new Acer Aspire One has Ethernet, Headphone, Microphone and VGA ports, three USB ports and a 4-1 card reader. If it is meant to be only a remake, it's a good, solid and fortunate one. If it's meant to be something else, which might explain all the hype around it, I'm still waiting for the unveiling of what that special, groundbreaking something is. All in all, this is a refreshing view of the legendary Aspire.
Although there are definitely a lot of other offers out there with kind of the same specifications, just the name Aspire One could be enough to make this netbook a hit. Hopefully, that's not all that Acer is counting on.
