As some of you might remember, Asus announced a while ago the development of a new series of accessories for its computers, one of the most interesting being the Eee Stick, a gadget largely inspired by the nunchuck controller accompanying the Wii. Obviously, the company brought it at its booth at CeBIT, and we had the chance to take it for a quick spin.
Used in the same manner as the regular Wii nunchuck, the Asus Eee Stick is comprised of a Main Stick and a Sub Stick. The main stick has 7 Game Keys, 1 Mode switch, 8-way 3D motion, and weighs just 112g, while the sub stick has 114g, 8-way 3D motion, one joystick but only 4 game keys. Both sticks come in black or white and have two LEDs for the user to be aware of their functioning. They are connectable via 2.4GHz Wireless using a USB 2.0 dongle.
Using your stick as mouse will be at the very least extremely interesting, not to mention what this new piece of technology could do to the computer gaming industry. I always wondered why there were no attempts being made to replicate the Wii nunchuck, but now I have my answer. Attempts were being made; just that manufactures were waiting for the right time to introduce their creations. Can you imagine playing a first person shooter such as Far Cry or Crysis with the Asus Eee Stick? Or a point and click adventure? The possibilities are endless. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Asus has made the first step. It’s time to see who or what follows.
So, grab your Wii and your nunchuck and start practicing, for very soon you might use them on your notebook playing your favorite computer game.
