We were talking in some of our previous articles on the subject about how popular pico projectors have become lately, but we didn't really expect them to be so popular in order for some manufacturers to start making toys out of them. However, that's exactly the case, as we've been able to see for ourselves first hand, during our visit at CeBIT 2009.

The device in question is the TinyPro, manufactured by a company called Alien Technology LTD., which also produces all sorts of alien-inspired toys, from RC flying saucers to multimedia players and recorders, most of which have the same general target segment: children.

In fact, the only thing that could be considered “out of this world” about the TinyPro is its external design, but that's about it. Within, we can find an LED lighting system, as well as an optic system that can generate images with widths of up to 60 inches in diagonal, at a 640 x 480 pixel resolution (not exactly HD, is it, now?).

The devices uses standard RCA audio/video connectors, which make it compatible with a very wide array of products available on the market, including here DVD players, Nintendo gaming consoles, the Xbox 360, the PS2 and PS3, digital cameras, iPods, computers, TV, cable or satellite box. Furthermore, it sports its own, built-in speaker, but one should really not expect too much out of it.

Unfortunately, this thing is not exactly very portable, since it still requires a power adapter connected to a nearby mains socket in order to function properly.

Despite being more a toy than anything else, the price of the TinyPro is of around 200 Euro, which, if you ask me, is way, way too high a sum to pay for this thing (although this would be one of the most affordable pico projectors around).

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
