CeBIT 2009: A Quick Live Look at the Acer K10 LED Pico Projector

The K10 is one of the smallest and lightest video projectors on the market. Using LED technology, it emits brightness of up to 100 ANSI Lumens for displaying clear and detailed images up to 60 inches in diagonal. Seeing how the LED is supposed to last for over 20.000 hours, lamp replacements are almost unnecessary, making you save a lot more money and giving you greatly improved reliability.

Acer says “the 2000:1 contrast ratio presents detailed text and visuals; auto keystone correction, quick signal detection, quick start, Acer Instant Pack and a host of other technologies make the K10 big in features.” I say it seems a little bit uglier and needs more finishing done when compared to other models. The image is not very good although the lighting appears to be a little better if we were to compare it with other models.

Nevertheless, all this is pretty pointless because there was no great need for another very portable projector on the market. It's not like every time you travel you feel the need to project a slide-show in your car or while on a plane or train. At least, I don't! Anyway, it's compatible with PAL, NTSC, SECAM, HDTV, SDTV, and EDTV. All you need to know is the TV part. It has a native resolution of 858 x 600 and a maximum compressed resolution of 1.280 x 1.024 SXGA or 1.440 x 900 WXGA+. No support for audio, though.

Consuming only 5 Watts, you may say it is pretty eco-friendly. Now, what I don't understand is, if this thing was meant for portability, doesn't the lack of a battery kind of take the whole “portability” part away?
