Remember that in the article related to Texas Instruments’ DLP Cinema 4K Chip I mentioned that I was looking forward to seeing projectors using the chip? Well, I didn't have to wait long, did I? Christie has just announced its first 4K DLP Cinema-using product line.

It seems it will be introducing five new products set on offering the widest range of resolution and brightness levels so that no buyer is unsatisfied. From the smallest to the largest screens, the 4K DLP Cinema Christie projectors will try to fit every customer’s whim. The names of these new projectors are Christie CP2210, Christie CP2220, Christie CP2230, Christie CP 4220 and Christie CP4230, the last offering up to 100 feet projection and delivering up to 30.000 lumens of brightness. Which is... very bright.

Jack Kline, president and chief operating officer, Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc., had the following statement to make, “The successful implementation of more than 7,000 installations around the world has provided us with a unique wealth of knowledge and experience. We’ve achieved 99.999% reliability and have presented more than 10 million digital screenings; however, when we look beyond the numbers, our most critical learning has come from our exhibitor partners.”

This series of digital cinema projectors is dubbed Christie Solaria and feature a new modular architecture, as well as Christie's Brillliant3D technology. Oh, and they also use lower power lamps that offer up to 25% lower costs of operation.

Mister Kline added that “Our current product line will continue to meet both exhibition and studios’ immediate demand for both 2D and 3D presentations - and in 2010 and beyond, our Solaria series will meet our customers expanded needs for choice in brightness, resolution and cost of operation.”

Set to be available for the second half of 2010, the devices have not yet been priced.
