When you first connected your HD TV to your PC, you probably wished you had a display adapter like this new one announced by DisplayLink and Diamond. The Diamond BVUMD3 Display Adapter is a little gadget that will do you a very big favor, saving you from all sorts of special connectors and extra cables entangling around your
media center or in the computer room.
“DisplayLink’s DL-165 USB virtual graphics chip has enabled us to offer our customers a means to connect multiple monitors to a single device, along with many other multimedia capabilities,” says Louis Kokenis, Product Engineering Manager for Diamond Multimedia. “The BVUMD3 also uses 80% less power than a discrete solution.”
OK, so you already know it supports the 1080p resolution and that it runs on USB 2.0, but you don't know that there are three USB-powered ports on the BVUMD3, which means you can use it like you would a normal docking station, only on a smaller scale. I must also tell you that it is a very affordable gimmick, with a price tag of only $75.
Adapters of this type are known to be quite expensive, and considering the fact that this new one will let you connect up to six external video displays at one time, it looks like a very good deal to me. It will support both
extending and mirroring extra displays. There are all sorts of ways you can use this gadget found on
Slashgear.
“Diamond’s USB HD
Display Adapter Plus is another example of USB universal docking stations gaining momentum in the market and how they have unlimited potential to enhance the notebook/netbook computing experience,” states Dennis Crespo, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for DisplayLink. “The USB HD Display Adapter Plus offers big productivity and organizational benefits in a small package.”
