Touchscreens have become ubiquitous
nowadays and Control4's newest generation of dedicated in-wall
control and entertainment systems are the latest gadgets to get an
capacitative touchscreen.
Control4's InfinityEdge systems can
control lights, music, climate, entertainment and security devices
around the
home, thanks to the Control4 OS 2.0 and a newly designed
Flash interface.
InfinityEdge's capabilities can also be
expanded with the help of the 4Store Application Marketplace, a store
where users can find applications that allows them to monitor rooms,
communicate between rooms, or to broadcast messages to multiple
InfinityEdge
touchscreens in the home.
The units can be powered trough an AC
outlet or Power-over-Ethernet and connectivity is provided thanks to
WiFi and Ethernet interfaces.
The number of available
power and
connectivity options should ease the installation process, reducing
the number of cables that a user has to set up for the device to
work.
“This introduction supports our
vision to provide affordable home control solutions that will allow
home owners to access their Control4 system from virtually every room
in the house,” stated Control4's CEO Will West.
Although Control4 refers to their
systems as affordable, the 5 inch option will set you back $599 and
the larger 7 inch model will be available for a whopping $899.
A perpetual site license that enables
intercom capability is also available for $499.
