You know, we've seen a whole lot of crazy gadgets arrive on the market over the past few years, the large majority of them being related, in some way, to a computer's USB port. So, after probably being a little dismayed by all the USB-powered oddities you've been able to read about in our USB Stuff section from the Gadgets Collection, here's one to top them all: the cow-shaped USB hub.
Officially dubbed USB 2.0 4-Port LED Lighted Hub (yeah, I guess that there must be literally hundreds of other similarly-named products out there) and coming straight from the “world's workshop,” China, this device has a very unusual shape, namely that of a... cow. OK, I might be overacting a bit, since this thing could also be a bull, a buffalo or perhaps even a dog or cat, in someone's twisted imagination. In any case, it looks like one big fat cow to me.
As far as its “features” are concerned, the device (manufactured by a company called Arexx) is actually pretty standard. Hence, it comes equipped with four USB ports, each of them being assigned its own LED activity indicator.
And speaking of LEDs, it's interesting to mention that the cow-shaped USB hub also doubles as an LED lighting system, featuring nine light-emitting diodes installed right in the “head.” Plus, it's probably fairly easy to carry around, given the fact that it measures just around 100 x 62 x 44 mm.
Anyway, there's no pricing information attached to this device, but if it's affordable enough (and it most certainly is, given the fact that, after all, we're talking about a pretty simple product here), it might prove to be extremely popular on the Indian market, since, as we all know only too well, the cow is a sacred animal in the country (or at least in some parts).
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
