This I had yet to see, and now I am quite happy I did. This, my friends, is the phone guitar that comes to prove many things, especially that creativity has no limits and that phone operating systems can work together. What you see to your left is nothing more, or less than what it seems to be, namely a couple of mobile phones, strapped to a piece of wood, strapped to a portable, battery-operated speaker.
Put together by blogger Steffest, this weird, crazy and most amazing gizmo is definitely worth watching and hearing, especially knowing that the guy has written his own applications, for this specific need. You know that music applications are among the best things to do while traveling, keeping you both busy and creative sometimes. Steffest even mentions that his favorite pastime while on train was Milkytracker, but pretty soon he came to conclusion that he needed specific capabilities from the software, so he decided to build them himself.
That's what made him create the same app for three mobile platforms, namely Android, Windows Mobile and iPhone OS, which brought him the hassle of a developer, audio latency being one of the worst, and further since he tried to build the application from the same source. He ended up writing the app three times, namely in Java for Android, in C# for Windows Mobile and in Objective-C for the iPhone, loaded his phones with the applications (since he also added Pocket Stompbox and iShred) and he got a really nice guitar-shaped instrument that he can jam to.
Watch him perform below, as he plays Cracklin Rosie, on a hoard of mobile phones. Just be patient and actually listen to the sound, and not just make lame jokes on how bad this looks, and you might even get attracted into doing one of these yourself.
