If you own an iPod, you can easily turn it, from the portable multimedia vagabond that you take along in your adventures, into a big entertainment system, HD quality and all. You already know how many iPod docks are out there as we speak; well, the MovieWorks HD from Creative is one of the latest entries.
Apparently, you'll get videos of up to 1080i resolution with this baby. So, if you have some movies on your iPod and you want to see them in the company of friends, you might want to save them up for when you get home to your lovely high-definition TV. The iPod is not exactly a device focused on video content, music is what it's most often associated with; consequently, Creative also promises that its MovieWorks HD polishes the quality of MP3s and makes the transition from basic stereo to DTS surround (in this case, you'll also need a receiver with DTS decoding).
At the heart of this iPod dock lies some fancy-named technology, X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity, based on the superpowers of the X-Fi Crystallizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D. What you get from this is apparently a bonus to “detail and vibrancy” when it comes to the playback of compressed music from the iPod. The MovieWorks HD seems to be smart enough to sniff out those audio chunks that got damaged during the compression process.
You can organize and navigate through the content you stashed on your iPod by means of a wireless IR remote. And, if you really like the entertainment machine made by Creative, you may be interested in acquiring the Creative Wireless Receiver, which allows you to connect the MovieWorks HD to other systems in your multimedia friendly crib - a wireless home network is not necessary. The Creative Wireless receiver comes with its own remote. This iPod dock is available now for $249.99 (the Creative Wireless Receiver is not included).
