You know, netbooks are so small that you could probably carry them around like you carry your handbag. Actually... why don't they make netbooks with handles? Add a touchscreen to it, make it removable and start revolutionizing the market with a new netbook/tablet/handbag thing. Now, I know that it has been done before, but there really should be more of these things, don't you think? That being said, let us say hello to the Daewoo Solo C920 tablet/netbook.
I am sure you know its specifications by heart but I will repeat them anyway, Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 Random Access Memory and an 1.8-inch 4.200rpm 60GB hard-drive (why it didn't go for a solid state drive is beyond my comprehension). All pretty much standard netbook -type specifications... up until the end, where we meet up with its 8.9-inch touchscreen.
The display has a resolution of 1024 x 600 and features stereo speakers, as well as a 1.3-megapixel webcam. As for connectivity options, all that you are bound to expect you can be sure to receive. This means WiFi b/g/n, two USB 2.0 ports, as well as audio in/out and Ethernet. Oh, and contrary to what I initially believed, the screen doesn't seem to be removable, it only rotates around its base. The tablet/netbook weighs around 1.21kg.
Unfortunately, it comes with Windows XP Home Edition preinstalled so... well... unless you install Windows 7 on it, you won't be enjoying the “Tablet Mode” very much (no handwriting recognition and so on).
There is no word whether this interesting device will ever leave Korea, and since most never do, let us hope this is the exception that confirms the rule.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
