In the era of gadgetry, none of the items that we have been accustomed to have around the house keeps its original functionality anymore. Thus, we can watch TV in the shower, talk on the phone that's incorporated in the microwave oven or listen to music coming from the speakers attached to the bed. We seem to want everything to include everything, that's why all of our belongings tend to become all-in-one gadget combos.
As far as furniture is concerned these days, it seems that the prominent trend would be futuristic design, multiple functionality and, of course, closeness to the gadgetry world. This is just the case with the Daywriter/Nightwriter shelves too, which function both as storage shelves and dry-erase boards. They give a funky look to your home and also allow you to pass messages to your roommates in a bit of a different way than the traditional post-its.
They look exactly like regular shelves during the day, when there are no messages written on them. The Daywriter uses something that looks like chalk to write messages during the day and it basically allows you to post whatever message you want, from “clean up the room, you slackers” to “don't bother me today, I have to study” or whatever else runs through your mind.
Meanwhile, the Nightwriter has an added glow-in-the-dark feature, making it a wonderful place for you to scribble "We can all hear you" for your roommate's offensively loud paramour to catch on his way to the shared bathroom. Basically, you scratch on the words and watch them glow. The best part is that you can erase the messages whenever you want and start all over again.
Despite their increased cool factor, there is no word on their availability or price just yet.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
