From time to time, we come across certain products or technologies that seem to be simply too good to be true. In fact, they're the type of stuff we've only seen in Sci-Fi flicks over the years, and the thought that we might be using such a product in the not-so-far-away future seems both exciting and... well, a bit improbable, to tell you the truth.
Anyway, as you might have guessed, we've encountered a product that can be easily placed in the aforementioned category, namely the Deanmark
AirMouse, which, should it manage to deliver on its promise, might usher in a whole new era of computer controllers and accessories, one that actually doesn't require a solid mousing surface.
No, in fact, the AirMouse works right in the air, being worn just like an
accessory strapped over one's hand, with the sensors controlling the mouse clicks being placed on the tip of the user's finger and the laser tracking sensor on the palm. As expected, the peripheral connects to a computer via a wireless connection (either RF or Bluetooth, but we kind of bet on the second option), and is powered by a rechargeable battery that, according to the manufacturer, should last a whole week without the need for a recharge.
The company behind the AirMouse, Canada-based Deanmark, claims that their device will prove to be an excellent solution for fighting
RSI (repetitive strain injury), which is an affliction that will surely bother ever more people in the future, as computer usage becomes more and more widespread. Hence, due to the fact that the AirMouse is perfectly shaped after the human hand, no unnecessary and/or artificial moves will be involved.
Unfortunately, for the time being, the AirMouse remains just a rendering, accompanied by some pieces of not-very-technical information, but we certainly hope that there's a lot more to this thing than vaporware, because it will surely enable one special mousing experience.
