As those of you who've followed the issue of Dell's future
Adamo XPS ultra-ultra portable system (a double ultra is in order given the fact that this thing is even thinner than Apple's MacBook Air) probably know already, the no. 2 US portable system manufacturer has been actively working on a device that will certainly embody the concept of “showstopper” and will bring Dell back into the spotlight.
And now, as the launch date for Windows 7 is rapidly approaching, more information regarding this uber-cool,
super-slim system is appearing, including some important leaked details that make this thing even more attractive than before, but also paint the picture of a system not many people will be able to afford.
The leaked info regarding the features of the future Dell system appeared within a fairly ample article from
BusinessWeek, which, among other things, also talked about Dell's plans of reforming its activity in order to better position itself on the market, including here the development of certain devices and products that will draw people's attention to the brand.
And, without a doubt, that's exactly the case will the
Dell Adamo XPS, which, according to the company's reps quoted in the aforementioned article, should arrive on the market this October (after the launch of Microsoft's next-generation operating system). Moreover, besides being ultra-thin, this notebook will sport a very interesting power switch system, apparently featuring a “heat-sensing strip on the lip that, when swiped with a finger, glows white and automatically opens the aluminum lid.” Now this is really some Sci-Fi tech right there.
However, as mentioned above, the price for the Adamo XPS will be way above what normal customers are willing to pay, since this ultra-thin device will sell for somewhere in the vicinity of 2,000 US dollars, which is way too high, especially in this (still) bleak economy.
