Digi International has just introduced the Digi TransPort WR44 with Gobi, namely the industry's first enterprise class cellular router that packs the Qualcomm Gobi technology. The Gobi technology can handle either High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) or Evolution- Data Optimized networks from the very same cellular radio. Thanks to that, customers will be able to develop a solution
usable in multiple regions and thus reduce the cost, while enhancing efficiency, and also minimizing the risk since it is future-proof by supporting a different standard than that initially installed.
"The Digi TransPort WR44 with Gobi provides anywhere global connectivity for the enterprise and greater flexibility for device deployment," said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. "This makes it easier and more efficient for organizations to connect to their remote assets throughout the world."
Now, I could detail the Digi TransPort WR44, which is an all-in-one enterprise class cellular router that even packs an embedded Wi-Fi access point and delivers a high-speed connectivity for remote access devices by mixing a 3G cellular router, top notch security means, advanced routing, an Ethernet switch, GPS, telemetry and Wi-Fi, all in one single piece of device.
That's about what makes this perfectly suitable for fitting the
needs of flexible remote devices in vertical applications like transportation or remote office. Available now, the TransPort WR44 with Gobi is certified by AT&T, while Verizon and Sprint certification should get there by Q2 2010.
"Qualcomm's Gobi technology is unique in that it provides reliable, transparent 3G connectivity to both EV-DO and HSPA networks," said Beau Beck, senior director of wireless connectivity at Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. "This allows customers to access global networks and critical information from nearly anywhere in the world."
