I think you have probably found out about the benefits of using SSD drives by now. You know, more than ten times faster than regular hard disk drives, reduced power consumption, faster boot times, no mechanical parts and so on. Well, EDGE Tech seems to have created a new Solid State Drive line-up that improves on the basic SSD features. Since I have to admit it made me pretty curious, I invite you to take a much closer look at these new storage devices from EDGE Tech.

Ok, time for the specs sheet on these babies. Featuring 64GB and 128GB sizes, with an upcoming 256GB version soon to make its appearance, these SSDs feature the following read speeds: 200MB/s and 240MB/s for the 64GB and 128GB slash 256GB versions, respectively. As for writing speed, the 64GB one has a write speed of 140MB/s, while the other two feature 170MB/s write speeds.

In terms of size, these solid state drives can replace 2.5-inch hard drives with ease and are compatible with any device that has a SATA interface. Their own interface is SATA II, backwards compatible with SATA I, of course. This new line of SSDs from EDGE Tech can also withstand 15Gs of vibration and has an operating temperature ranging between 0 and 70 degrees Celsius. I haven't a clue as to what the pricing may be on these new storage devices but don't expect a miracle, since SSDs are still quite on the expensive side.

Ending this article is EDGE Tech Corp president and CEO, Jeff Thompson, “We’re pleased to introduce EDGE’s SSDs to the market. Our fully featured line, complete with upgrade kit, offers numerous operating system benefits as well as a fully functioning extra backup external hard drive.”
