As you probably know only too well, the EEE PC is perhaps one of the best products Asus ever came up with, the tiny netbook taking the world of portable computing by storm and seriously boosting the Taiwan-based manufacturer's sales. Furthermore, given the success of the portable version, Asus also came up with a desktop model (a nettop), dubbed the EEE Box, which is very likely to become the HTPC (home theater PC) of choice for many users around the world. For this reason, it would seem that certain specific accessories will make their way to the market pretty soon, Asus being committed on providing users with every tool they need in order to use their EEE Box to the maximum of its capabilities.
Thus, German website EEE PC News has received some photos from an undisclosed source regarding a couple of upcoming accessories for the EEE Box. What we're dealing with here is a multimedia remote control, designed to control movie playback options and certain additional features, as well as two sets of wireless mice and keyboards (identical form factor and functions, the main difference being the color – either black or white).
You might wonder how is it possible for the EEE Box to target the HTPC market, where high-definition is a must. Now, the EEE Box is not that different from the EEE PC as far as its processing power is concerned (Atom N270 running at 1.6 Ghz, plus an Intel chipset), but the main difference is that two of its latest iterations, the B204 and B206, will feature ATI HD3400 series graphics processing units. Furthermore, they'll also sport HDMI interfaces, which will help users easily connect them to modern HDTV sets.
Unfortunately, for the time being, no information has been provided regarding the pricing and availability of these EEE Box accessories, but since CES is approaching rapidly, Asus might release further information on these products on that occasion.
