Ingenious rainwater harvesting systems are nothing new to us, but we never miss a chance to share the most creative systems that can not only provide water for you and your family but also for the plants that you love so much. Designing is an art in itself, but few designers add meaning to their art. And Julien Bergignat is one of those rare designers that spontaneously come to our mind while pondering over some meaningful designs.
The Eol’eau is an innovative concept that not just gathers rainwater in a water tank located at the base, for watering your plants and garden, but also produces electricity with the help of a wind generator. You can actually see that from its very name, as “eol” comes from the name of the Greek God of Wind, while “eau” means “water” in French.
Featuring a water pump to make pressure in the system, the Eol’eau can store as much as 600 liters of water in its tank. You may add lamps to the system that will generate power from wind energy. Eol’eau is simply a functional design that, if ever entering production, will help in sustaining the environment.
Eol’eau offers a prospect to water flowers, fields and large areas with more convenience than other traditional watering pots. There is also a water pump to pressurize the system, allowing the device to connect with rubber hose and apply it for automatic watering.
It may all sound very interesting and extremely green, but there are drawbacks to this concept, too. Thus, possibly one of the greatest flaws of the Eol'eau is the fact that the system looks too complex, because if the wind turbine is installed on top of the barrel, there is no way rainwater can enter the tank.
