As mentioned during our previous Epson-related article, we had quite a field day at the company's recent event, being able to get close and personal with some of its latest releases in the field of projectors and printing solutions. And as far as
projectors go, by far the most impressive, size-wise, is the EB-Z8000WU model, which has been specifically designed to be used for large venues and auditoriums and thus features not only a great brightness level, but also a very impressive throw ratio.
So, the EB-Z8000WU not only delivers an overall brightness level of around 6000 ANSI Lumens, but its projection distance can range between 7.3ft. and 62.3ft. (2.23m-18.99m). Moreover, the diagonal size of the projected images can vary between 60 and 500 inches (152.4cm ~ 1270cm), which means that the overall throw ratio is of 1.61:1.
This very large and heavy projector (73.41cm x 16.76cm x 53.34cm, 22 kg) attains a 5000:1 native contrast ratio and supports a maximum WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels), which means that users won't have absolutely any problem running
Full HD (1080p) movies on this thing. The gadget supports 16.77-million colors and uses 0.94-inch PolySilicon Active Matrix TFT LCD x 3 technology.
As you can see from the photos, this projector also comes equipped with a very large number of connectivity options, which include 2 x RGB D-Sub 15pin interfaces, 5 x BNC connectors, 1 x DVI-D, 1 x RGB D-SUb 15pin, 1 x RJ-45 LAN connector for networking purposes, as well as a wireless network module, an RS-232 jack and a remote control jack.
Now, given the size of this thing, as well as the high brightness generated by its two 330W UHE lamps, it's no wonder that we're not talking about a “green” device here (despite the company's attempts to make its products as eco-friendly as possible), the EB-Z8000WU from
Epson requires quite a lot of power in order to work, namely around 877 Watts in normal mode. Of course, considering the targeted segment, it's very likely that people won't get to feel the heat emanated by this gadget during normal functioning, but it could be able to provide quite a serious “helping hand” to the heating system of the venue it's installed in.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
