Considering the number of available solutions, designing an embedded systems isn't that difficult anymore, Eurotech just announcing its latest EPIC board, based on a low power Atom Z series processor that is destined to be used in the transportation, industrial, medical or defense market.

Thanks to the energy efficient components used, this EPIC single board computer features a power consumption lower then 7W while also providing users with all the features necessary such as dual display and touchscreen support, dual CAN interfaces, serial ports, high speed USB, and Gigabit Ethernet.

MiniPCI Express and Serial ATA are also on the feature list, providing users with an impressive number of expansion options.

"With Vector, Eurotech builds on our low power, small footprint design expertise with the Intel Atom platform," says Pete Dombrowski, Director of Engineering for Eurotech Inc.

"The SBC design is targeted for customers who want to simply plug a single board into their design and go to market quickly.

We have built a very flexible product through a range of I/O, boot, expansion, and operating system options, all backed by Eurotech's strong focus to help our customers move into production as quickly as possible."

Vector supports Windows Embedded Standard and Windows CE, as well as Wind River Linux, development systems being available right now with a full set of features and operating systems, so there's nobody stopping you if you want to give these a go.
