With this following product, I really can't help but quote the first line on the official web site, namely "Everyone hates having to use crutches after a leg injury, so a company that started as a bicycle manufacturer and recently evolved into medical
mobility products thinks it's got the answer."
I would put an accent on that "thinks," and also continue it with - but it's almost wrong. The company's name is Forward Mobility and the product's name is the Freedom Leg. What they don't get is that having a structure attached to your leg is far more cumbersome than grabbing one or two crutches from behind the door to get going. I can completely understand that the Freedom
Leg takes the whole weight of the body and transfers it to the upper part of the user, and relieves the injured area from strain, but I can't but think about just how tight one has to strap this to their leg.
Weight is the least problem, yet the guys at Forward Mobility forged the Freedom Leg from composite materials, therefore this only weighs in at 1.2 kilograms. The price, however, is just not right, because as far as it looks to me, those are $50 worth from ToolShack or just any other store like that; nevertheless, my point was that it's just too much to ask for $350 for something that many will wear but a few days, or weeks at most. Exaggerating a little, I could say that this will be bought by actors in theaters, because we all know what they say when they go on stage - break a leg!
The only upside of this would be the fact that it actually gives you the capability of using both hands as you walk. Also, it keeps your injured leg in a condition, not letting the upper muscle atrophy. Even more, according to third-party websites, this will be supplied and charged by the doctors in the US, and for free in the rest of the world.
