There are quite a lot of situations when users need to output video from a single GPU to as many monitors as possible, and one of the devices that can help them easily and rapidly achieve this goal is the new StarTech SP123DP2DVI DisplayPort to DVI Triple Monitor Desktop Expansion Module.
As the rather long name suggest quite accurately, the main function carried out by the SP123DP2DVI Triple Head DisplayPort to DVI Multi Monitor Adapter is to expand the video output from a DisplayPort video card/source across no less than three
DVI-D monitors.
The graphics expansion module can be used to span the
DisplayPort image output across three monitors or clone the primary output image onto the displays, representing a convenient solution for a broad range of applications including creating ultra-widescreen environments for digital signage video walls, viewing/editing panoramic videos/graphics, playing simulation-based games and more.
The maximum supported output resolution is 3840x1024 pixels, each monitor getting 1280 x 800 pixels in a 3-monitor configuration and 1920 x 1200 pixels in the case of a 2-monitor solution.
The SP123DP2DVI DisplayPort to DVI
Triple Monitor Desktop Expansion Module from StarTech sells for around 300 US dollars, which is not exactly a very small price point, but it's probably rather fair, given the fact that we're talking about a specialty device, manufactured in relatively small quantities.
