Well, not that long has passed since we reported about BenQ’s first 120Hz Nvidia 3D Vision certified gaming monitor and recently we had the chance of taking a quick look at one such display during a local BenQ event that showcased, among other products, the XL2410T.

As you may remember from our previous report this monitor was developed together with two professional Counter-Strike players, so it features some unique gaming options like special modes for different games genres while also allowing you to quickly change between different display aspect modes.

First thing that went trough my mind when I heard about those features back then was “marketing gimmick” and, after I had the chance of experiencing them first hand, I still maintain my original opinion, although I managed to find some other capabilities of the XL2410T that took me by surprise since they weren't detailed in the original press release.

I am talking about the monitor’s height adjusting stand that can also support portrait and landscape modes and the bundled ZOWIE gaming pad and mouse.

Since this is a 3D enabled monitor we couldn’t pass the opportunity to play a little Batman: Arkham Asylum and, although I find myself more impressed by the game then by the 3D effects, I can say this was a particularly welcomed experience.

All in all I would say the XL2410T managed to perform on par with its 3D enabled counterparts, but I am not a huge fan of the present day 3D technology, dealing with those uncomfortable glasses in order to get a minor depth effect, that is not always noticeable, just not coming in as my cup of tea.

However, if 3D is really your thing then BenQ’s XL2410T could be a really nice option since we don’t get that many gaming monitors with adjustable stands, the ZOWIE accessories coming in as a nice bonus too.

Of course that all comes down to price, but BenQ doesn’t usually overcharge for their products, so this may as well be one interesting option for 3D gaming affectionados.
