Fantasea Line is an international company dedicated to developing and manufacturing affordable products mainly focused on water-sports, diving and underwater photography equipment. Besides its own product line, Fantasea Line also collaborates with various manufacturers in joint projects, helping to design, test and market their creations.

Fantasea has recently announced the Remora Focus Pro lighting set for underwater photography, especially developed for compact underwater housings. The Remora sports Fantasea's Nano Focus Light with automatic dim-out sensor thanks to the built-in YS Mount that eliminates the need for an additional arm. Mounted on top of Remora flash, the Nano Focus Light also provides an ideal modeling light.

Let's see the technical specifications of this underwater flash. First of all, the power is adjustable over a 10 to 100% range in 10% steps probably. It features the possibility of selecting from four pre-flash settings.

The total power output, at 100%, is 42 watts per second, which is actually very good, considering that the average external camera flash is rated somewhere at 20 or 30 watts per second, while the most powerful in that category is rated even at 60 or 90 watts per second.

The guide number for this is rated at 20 (for ISO100 in air) for a 60-degree horizontal beam angle. That's about a 50mm setting on a 430ex, regarding the coverage. Just like the 430ex, the Remora uses 4 x AA batteries that provide about 240 pops per battery set, but unlike it, the Remora also features a slave sensor, attachment for fiber optic cable and has a 55m rated depth. I should also mention the included flash diffuser and the weight of 2 kilos.

As the company recently informed us, pricing for the Remora Focus Pro Underwater Flash is set at around 320 US dollars, which actually makes it a top choice in its segment, given the features/price ratio it provides.
