Using the Intel Ethernet 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, ATTO has developed two powerful Ethernet cards that will go straight in the performance IT environments in order to allow
professionals to benefit from their high-end abilities. These cards are part of a
new series of ATTO products called FastFrame: the NS11 and NS12, to be precise.
“We are pleased to announce the release of our FastFrame 10GbE
network adapter product line to meet the high performance demands of today’s data center,” stated Tim Klein, president and CEO of ATTO Technology. “By working with an industry-leader in 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology, we are now delivering the most comprehensive storage connectivity solutions based on high-performance technologies.”
One of the best features that NS11 and NS12 have is the unified SAN and LAN connectivity which, of course, has the direct effect of lowering costs in companies using the tech. The only difference between these two Ethernet cards featuring an x8 PCIe 2.0 bus is the umber of ports they offer. FastFrame NS12 has two, while the NS11 only one. The support for Data Center Bridging and load-balancing on multiple processors assures the systems' fast performances by reducing latency. The administrators working with them will probably appreciate the iSCSI remote boot support.
“Intel’s 10GbE technology helps address the storage connectivity industry’s demand for a solution that provides flexible and scalable Ethernet adapters for routing both LAN and SAN traffic over a single fabric,” said Steve Schultz, director of product marketing, LAN Access Division, Intel Corporation. “With the Intel 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller in network adapters such as the FastFrame product line, storage connectivity companies such as ATTO are well-positioned to handle the bandwidth-intensive demands of multi-core processing applications.”
These two solutions are available right now and ATTO promises that Q4 will bring more products in the FastFrame family.
