I don't want to brag but, honestly, I saw this happen. The first time I set my eyes on a digital photo frame I said to myself, “Man, this would rock if it had a TV function, or some widgets to go with it.” As I was saying those very words, Human-Rh was probably on its way perfecting the first AMOLED digital frame with included TV tuner.
And I am not talking about just one frame either, I am talking about two frames, each with its own special gimmicks. HDPF-760D is a 7.6-inch digital frame with an AMOLED and a built-in DMB tuner, while HDPF-800D is a slightly larger frame (8 inches in size) but featuring an LCD screen and not the AMOLED version. The best part about the HDPF-800D is that it comes with a wide selection of tuners for most regions around the globe. That way, you'll be taking your TV with you whether your are in Romania, Bangladesh or your backyard.
Built-in Wi-Fi allows the frames not only to display slideshows (in the same manner that usual digital frames do) but also different information via Internet-connected widgets (see, it did steal my idea). Other interesting touches include 2GB integrated memory, a multicard slot, USB port. There is absolutely no word regarding the release date or price range.
For the less technical savvy of you, AMOLED is an acronym (shorter name made of up the first letters of each word) for the name “active-matrix organic light-emitting diode” (thus, the need for a shorter name), which is basically an OLED display deposited or integrated onto a thin film transistor (TFT). Don't expect it to look better than the normal OLED, just expect it to consume a lot less power. And whereas photo frames are concerned, why would you want it any different?
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
