If you were wondering what the latest trends in
car radio technology are, then mind me telling you that iTunes tagging and crystal-clear sound from the HD Radio technology are the latest, and these two are also the latest additions to Ford's growing list of factory pre-installed customer conveniences and technologies, which will start being available in 2010.
"iTunes Tagging and
HD Radio technology are strong new additions to the growing collection of Ford convenience features and technology we're offering customers to make driving even more enjoyable," said Mark Fields, president of The Americas, Ford Company. "This is another example of Ford's commitment to bring the widest variety of factory installed customer-focused technology, features and conveniences to millions of people."
Continuing to pride on Ford's achievements, I must say that it is the very first company to offer iTunes tagging capability and HD Radio. Why are these so important? Well, they are not, just like many commodities we human aspire to, like internet on our mobile phone. We don't need it, but we like having it and it is nice to have that. HD Radio technology has the capability of capturing free digital radio broadcasts, thus eliminating static, fadeout and other issues associated with common analog radio signals, resulting in FM audio comparable to near-CD quality, as well as AM audio at quality as high as nowadays' FM.
"Ford continues to lead the market in bringing advanced capabilities to popular vehicles. We are very pleased that HD Radio technology is an integral part of Ford's broad offering of new features," said Jeff Jury, COO of iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of HD Radio technology.
Aside from the quality increase with the HD Radio, this technology also enables new features that are unavailable with regular analog radio, such as extra FM channels, called HD2/HD3 channels, and the nicest of all, the on-screen Program Service data, displaying artist name and song title, because we all know how much we hate searching for a tune we heard on the radio.
