I'm not quite sure just how many digital cameras get damaged every year by being dropped into water, but I guess the number must be pretty high, since more and more manufacturers are coming out with specially designed digicams guaranteed to resist even mild submersions. And that's exactly the case with one of the latest products from Fujifilm, the FinePix Z33WP compact digital camera, which allows users to shoot photos at a depth of 10 feet (3 meters).
Besides having a specially-insulated body, the 10-megapixel FinePix Z33WP also sports a Fujinon 3x Optical Zoom lens, which helps photographers get a closer look on what they're shooting. Plus, for reviewing the photos, the digital camera has been equipped with a 2.7-inch, 230,000 dot resolution LCD screen.
Similarly to most modern compact cameras, the new Z33WP from Fujifilm comes packed with certain technologies designed to improve the quality of the shots, regardless of the environment and time of day (or night). Probably the most important such extra is the SR Auto (Automatic Scene Recognition) mode that enables the camera to intelligently recognize six types of scenes automatically and optimize the ideal exposure, focus, white balance and ISO for the scene. In addition, Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilization is powered by high sensitivity for faster shutter and operational speeds to help reduce camera shake, keeping real life moments as true to form as possible.

Another very interesting (and, by all accounts, rather unique) feature is the Blog Mode, which automatically resizes a photo to a standard 640x480 pixel (VGA) or 320x240 pixel (QVGA) image size and enables 12 in-camera editing features, such as Zooming, Miniature effect, Illustration and Painting. Of course, since no camera can go without them these days, the Z33WP also incorporates Face Detection and Red-Eye Removal technologies.
Also, as most similar devices on the market, the new camera from Fujifilm can capture video clips (with audio) at 30 fps, by simply pressing the dedicated movie button.
The new waterproof FinePix Z33WP will debut in late March at a retail price of $199.95, which makes it a fairly affordable product for a very wide range of consumers.
