When it comes to Apple, there seems to be no end in sight as far as the rumor mill is concerned, every week bringing about new speculations about what's going to happen next with some of the many product series of the company from Cupertino. And the latest such rumor is not necessarily related to the next-generation iPhone, as things usually stand, but rather Apple's initial line of portable devices, the iPods.
Hence, as
AppleInsider reports, tips sent to the Hardmac website suggest the fact that future iPods (well, at least the iPod touch and the iPod nano) will come equipped with a built-in digital camera module, which would certainly further enhance their value.
Of course, similar to all rumors that hit the Internet on a daily basis, chances that we're dealing with just a far-fetched piece of information are pretty high. While a camera module seems quite a logical step as far as the iPod touch is concerned, given the fact that the number of applications to make use of a camera module with video-recording capabilities will surely explode after the launch of the next-gen iPhone, which is most likely to offer such a feature, what about the iPod nano? Will a nano equipped with a camera module exert the same attraction to consumers as the first mobile phones providing such a feature did? Well, if this rumor proves to be true, then that's what Apple probably believes.
Anyway, it remains to be seen which iPod will get a camera and whether such added functionality will affect the portable player's price point to any degree, but whatever the case may be, the future looks bright for the Cupertino-based company, at least from the point of view of the consumers' interests for its products.
