Garmin International Incorporated, one of the most renowned global leaders in satellite navigation, has just announced the zumo 220, one rugged and affordable touchscreen motorcycle navigator that includes text to speech guidance, as well as lane assist, Bluetooth headset compatibility and on-road/off-road travel options.

“zūmo 220 streamlines the design - and the price - while keeping the most popular motorcycle-specific features at your fingertips,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Compact and waterproof, zūmo 220 makes two-wheel navigation as stress-free as possible for riders on any budget.”

No matter what you are actually riding, either it is in blazing sun or by the dim light fo the moon, you will be able to take advantage of the experience accumulated in years, and miles of motorcycle expertise by the Garmin zumo team. Sporting a 3.5-inch color touchscreen for the user interface that is both rugged and accurate in responsiveness, the zumo 220 ensures you at-a-glance access to the information you need, in an easy to read format while traveling down the road.

Also, the zumo 220 will display speed limits on most of the major roads and even articulate turn-by-turn directions through spoken street names, either via built-in speaker or through compatible Bluetooth helmets or headsets. I really don't get the speed limit information, as we are talking about a GPS Navigator for motorcycle navigation - unless it's there so users will know exactly how much over the limit they're going.

Of course, as this was designed to be kept mounted on the handlebars, it should withstand quite some conditions and it does, as it is waterproof, resistant to fuel spray, as well as glove-friendly. This will clearly make life easier on spontaneous road trips and even detailed route planning, since it comes packed with street-level maps of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as more than six million points of interest included with gas stations, lodging, restaurants and other locations alike. Pricing for the zumo 220 is $599.99.
