Though PNDs usually come in
lighter and more attractive shapes, I don't quite recall them looking this good. The new Garmin Nuvi 3700 series and especially the flagship 3790T model pictured here are all GPS devices positioned at the fine border of design towards the land of mobile phones.
“Personal
navigation is entering a new era, and the nüvi 3700 series has the stunning design and seamlessly intuitive interface to lead the way,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Our designers and engineers were challenged to rethink an industry icon, and the result is as pristine as it is practical.”
A smaller GPS gadget can, of course, be less useful if employed in a car. If your vehicle has a large dashboard, with a much angled windshield, the navigation device's screen size can be an issue, but you also have to take into consideration its quality. And this is where the fresh Nuvi 3700 series excels. All models of this series of PNDs from Garmin have high-resolution glass displays capable of understanding commands given to them, via touch. These navigation systems have even received the Red Dot Design Award for their 4.3-inch WVGA displays.
The Nuvi 3700 series is also very slim, with a case so slim that it reminds us of the iPod touch. So, if you employ
a GPS gadget in order to take strolls in foreign territory, you can always place these 9 mm models in your pocket if not using them. With integrated technologies like multi-touch or voice navigation (the 3790T), these PNDs are extremely easy to use.
They come preloaded with ecoRoute for a more fuel-efficient car trip and, of course, are compatible with other wireless devices via Bluetooth. One good feature the Nuvi 3790T and Nuvi 3760T have is the fact that they come with free lifetime traffic alerts.
