High speed mobile Internet is certain to become one of those things that come standard on all laptops in a few years time, so the fact that more and more manufacturers start to add 4G capabilities to their notebook offerings comes as no surprise, Gateway pushing down the price of this units with their NV59C66u that starts at $699.99.
This is actually the very first model to hit retail from the NV series line that will come in a range of configurations and prices with either
Intel Core i3 and Core i5 or AMD Athlon and AMD Turion processors, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and 500GB storage space.
WiMAX capabilities come thanks to a Intel 6250 wireless card so I am guessing WiMAX will only be available on notebooks running on Intel processors.
The NV series will be available with 15.6-inch and 17.1-inch display options, DVD or Blu-Ray drives, a HDMI out port coming as standard on all the models.
“The availability of the Gateway NV59C66u comes at an opportune time for customers who want a consistently reliable and fast connection to the Internet through either WiMAX service, which is rolling out this year in more metropolitan areas or 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connections to hot spots and Wi-Fi networks,” said Ray Sawall, senior product marketing manager for Gateway notebooks.
“In addition, the performance, feature-set and affordability of notebooks have increased dramatically to make them an even more appealing option to customers who want an all-purpose PC – and that’s incredibly evident here in the entire
Gateway NV Series and with the new Gateway NV59C66u.”
As I stated earlier the Gateway NV59C66u with integrated WiMAX is priced at $699.99, while future NV series models will start at a rather low $479.99 price point.
